2026 NHL Draft: QMJHL Produces Two First-Round Picks -
Two QMJHL players were selected in the first round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Friday night in Buffalo. As expected, Gavin McKenna was selected first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ivar Stenberg followed, going to the San Jose Sharks. The first QMJHL player chosen was Québec Remparts forward Maddox Dagenais, who was selected 16th overall by the St. Louis Blues. Dagenais finished the 2025-26 season with 62 points in 62 games, including 30 goals. It marks the second consecutive year the Blues have used their first-round pick on a QMJHL player, following Blainville-Boisbriand Armada forward Justin Carbonneau, who was selected 19th overall in 2025. Then, with the 31st overall pick, Moncton Wildcats defenceman Tommy Bleyl was selected by the Nashville Predators. Bleyl was named the QMJHL Defenceman of the Year and Rookie of the Year, while also earning CHL Rookie of the Year honours after recording an outstanding 81-point season. Last

Steve Yzerman Traded Sebastian Cossa… Did the Red Wings Make a Huge Mistake? -
The Detroit Red Wings made one of the biggest moves of the 2026 NHL Draft, trading goaltender Sebastian Cossa to the Utah Mammoth to acquire the 23rd overall pick. Steve Yzerman then used that selection to draft J.P. Hurlbert. Now comes the bigger question... Will this trade eventually be remembered as a success, or will it become another example of Detroit missing on a first-round draft pick? Sebastian Cossa was originally selected 15th overall by the Red Wings in the 2021 NHL Draft, ahead of Jesper Wallstedt. After several years of development, Detroit has decided to move on, turning that asset into another first-round selection. In today's video, I break down: 🏒 Why Steve Yzerman made this move 🏒 Was Sebastian Cossa a failed draft pick? 🏒 What J.P. Hurlbert brings to the Detroit Red Wings 🏒 Why this trade could define the organization's future 🏒 Success or failure? You decide. What do YOU think? Did the Red Wings make the right decision, or did they give up on Sebastian Cossa too so

2026 NHL Entry Draft: Preview, start time, TV schedule, and how to watch -
It’s been an interesting few days leading up to the NHL draft, with more picks not only in play but already moved than you typically see. A rising cap is giving teams room to add players to their rosters, and this year’s picks are being largely treated as currency to make those additions, even by teams that were well out of the playoff picture at the end of the regular season. The prospects have been watching the drama unfold ahead of the biggest day of their hockey careers, with their potential destinations changing with every rumour and confirmed transaction to shift the picks around. A different team grabbing a high pick means a different order of how things could have otherwise played out, and we’ll see which player teams had in mind when putting these trades together. Tyus Sparks could have succeeded in any sport. He certainly has the family pedigree. His dad, Nate, won a Grey Cup with the CFL's B.C. Tyus himself dabbled in football as a running back and kicker while also playing soccer. But his hockey dreams were locked in from the moment he strapped on a pair of skates for the first time. "I was in Minnesota with my family," Sparks recalled. "The first time I skated was on a frozen-over basketball court and ever since then, I just loved it." That love has come with big sacrifices. Sparks hails from Meridian, Idaho- a state that has only produced two NHLers and a handful of minor professional players. He got his first shot with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings program, but rather than leave home, Sparks spent three years flying to gam
