2026 Panthers Prospect Profile: Brendan Dunphy - 
The Florida Panthers selected 19-year-old Californian Brendan Dunphy in the seventh round of the 2025 NHL Draft at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. After going undrafted in 2024, the Panthers took Dunphy with the 197th pick after the physical defenseman scored four goals and added 18 assists in 47 games with the Western Hockey League’s Wenatchee Wild. He joined the club after startng the season in the BCHL with the Langley Rivermen (19 games, six assists) after the Wild acquired his rights from the Regina Pats. He finished his first (and only) year of major junior with 66 penalty minutes and a minus-nine rating. As is customary, Dunphy attended Florida’s annual development camp after he was drafted. He made the move to college hockey by enrolling at the University of Connecticut. In his freshman season at UConn, Dunphy appeared in 37 games and finished the campaign with two goals, four assists, 29 shot blocks while posting a plus-six ratin

Victoria, B.C., – The Victoria Royals announced today that Miles Cooper has been named the eleventh captain in team history. Cooper, a 2006-born forward hailing from Calgary, A.B., is entering his second season with the Royals. Cooper was acquired by the Royals via a trade with the Wenatchee Wild just prior to the start of the 2025-26 season. “Miles has been an important part of our team since he joined us last year, leading both on and off the ice.” said Royals’ Head Coach James Patrick. “When you look for a captain, you look for a player that is respected by his teammates, competes every day and leads by example, Miles checks all those boxes.” Originally drafted in the third-round of the 2021 WHL Draft by the Winnipeg ICE, Cooper has scored 143 points in 189 games in the WHL. Cooper is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw him score 37 points (10 goals, 27 assists) in 50 games played. Assistant captains will be finalized at a later date.
