Simon Edvinsson PREFERS A TRADE?! Red Wings Have Completely Mishandled This | My Reaction

According to Pro Hockey Rumors, citing Elliotte Friedman, Simon Edvinsson now “prefers a trade” out of Detroit. If that’s where this situation has reached, the Red Wings have a serious problem on their hands.

Edvinsson came to training camp without a contract and skated on a PTO, taking on the risk because he wanted to be with his teammates and prepare for the season. After negotiations failed to produce a deal, he was no longer able to practice with the Red Wings and returned to Sweden to continue skating with Frölunda.
And now we’re hearing he would prefer a trade.
In this reaction, I’m talking about why I’m disgusted with how Detroit has handled one of its most important young defensemen. The wasted time during the GM transition, the contract stalemate, and everything that has happened since have turned what should have been a routine priority into another crisis.
Can Shawn Horcoff and the Red Wings still repair the relationship with Simon Edvinsson? I sincerely hope so. He’s a cornerstone-level piece of this team’s future, and losing him because of how this process was handled would be devastating.
Right now, though, things feel very dark in Detroit.
Let me know what you think: Can this relationship still be salvaged, or have the Red Wings pushed Edvinsson too far?
